In a recent survey of targeted industry professionals, the American Society of Safety Engineers’ (ASSE) Ergonomics Practice Specialty (ErgoPS) found that 38 percent of the respondents have been involved in ergonomics at their current level for less than a year.
The organization polled more than 300 ergonomics practitioners to learn about the ergonomics training, skill and resource needs in the practitioners’ working area. The group also explored whether a good match exists between the practitioner and marketplace needs by conducting a comparison of current professional training and certifications available.
ErgoPS has compiled the results into a five-part series, “Results of the 2015 Ergonomics Practitioner Environmental Scan Survey.” Part 1 reviews the demographics of survey respondents. Parts 2 through 5 will be released periodically over the next two months.
The voluntary survey was administered online Oct. 6, 2015, to Nov. 30, 2015, and consisted of 14 questions.
